Letter from the Principal – March 2020

I know I have said this in other newsletters, but it is really hard to believe how quickly this year is flying by!  I hope that everyone had a wonderful, restful February vacation. School starts to get very busy as it gets closer to springtime.  I can’t wait to experience my first spring at Alcott!

Climate Survey: Concord Public Schools is looking for feedback from families!  In the coming weeks, families will receive a link to complete a school climate survey.  The information you share will help us to understand what families think is working well as well as areas where we might focus on for improvement.  During the month of March, students in grades 3-5 will also be taking a student version of the climate survey. This feedback is incredibly valuable and I hope that you will take some time to share your thoughts when you receive the survey!

Cultural Kaleidoscope: I’m very excited to celebrate all of the rich cultural diversity here at Alcott at our first (soon to be annual) Cultural Kaleidoscope afternoon!  Families can participate by bringing a food dish to share, hosting a heritage table, or participating in the cultural show. A huge thank you to the staff and parents who have worked hard to prepare for this event!  I hope to see many of you on March 15th!

Kindergarten Registration: Kindergarten registration is right around the corner.  I am so excited to welcome a new class of students to Alcott!  If you know of any children who will be 5 before August 31st who have not received any information from the school yet, please encourage them to contact the school!

MCAS Schedule: As a reminder, the schedule for MCAS will be as follows:

April 2 and 3 – Grade 5 ELA

April 6 and 8 – Grade 4 ELA

April 15 and 16 – Grade 3 ELA

April 29 and 30 – Grade 5 Math

May 4 and 6 – Grade 4 Math

May 7 and 8 – Grade 3 Math

May 13 and 14 – Grade 5 Science
