March 3, 2017

Dear Alcott Families,

The month of March is off to a great start!  We began the week with our annual book fair and our third graders are performing their Wax Museum presentations this week and next.  On March 17, the whole school will undertake a STEAM Challenge to construct a “marble run” that will keep a marble rolling as long as possible (not as far as possible)!

The day to day functioning of our school, along with all of our special events, are a testament to our 5 core values of Academic Excellence, Respectful and Empathic Community,  Continuous Improvement, Educational Equity and Professional Collaboration.  Looking outside of Concord, and Massachusetts, it can be disconcerting to note those national events that are an affront to our core beliefs.  It is at times like these that it’s important to underscore and act on what I think is the foundation of these beliefs, and that is our core value of an Empathic and Respectful Community.

Our mission is to educate all students to become independent lifelong learners, creative thinkers, caring citizens and responsible contributors in our increasingly diverse global society.  We do this by ensuring that every member of our school community feels welcome and safe.

I hope that you will assist us in this endeavor by letting us know of instances in which families or students do not feel welcome or safe.  I promise we will make it right.

Sincerely,

Kathy Codianne
Interim Principal
